Added a jumper - now although th elight still flashes all the time, I can turn the thing off. Dont need the drive anyway, so the solution is more than acceptable.

One of my JTags has developed the dread 3RL. Its an old Xenon, but hasnt had too much use.

Can anyone recommend a company / person who can fix it with any reliability ?

Answered my own question.

Downloaded the systemupdate for the 12611 dash - and as I already had it, it just installed the Avatar update. Kinect stuff now works a treat...

Dont wanna post the download location in public... if you need it you know ...

Just one question - - I have Kinect, but loading the Kinect game (on Jtag'd console)says it'll need an update - thats despite me having the latest dash (2.0.12611). I'm a little reticent to connect to XBOX Live as I dont want to kill the JTAG.

Not only is it FREE, it gives you far more functionality than a mod chip. The USB Loader alone makes it worth the effort. No more disc burning and faster loading, transforms the system IMHO.

Looks like you are using the wrong Bannerbomb exploit for your firmware version.
I believe 1.08 if for <=4.1 and 2.00 is for 4.2

Nintendo closed the original exploit in 4.2, hence the update to *ahem* re-update it.

I dropped a USB Powered WD Passport and windows struggled with it to the point that the OS halted if I tried to access it. I tried HDRegenerator 1.71 on it, fixed it a treat, and didn't lose any data. Gotta be worth a try.

Check if it's banned or not. If it is you won't be able to install games to HD without flashing the NAND - which isn't easy for a n00b - or me for that matter.
