If you have problems with ftp, you can downlod the roms from Modaco, though you have to pay to get the latest generation (as I have). Release 7 is the current one for the free accounts.

Well, I didn't personaly use the Jellyfish Rom, but from what I have read, its a battery eater compared to the Modaco rom. Much quicker, improved battery life, Froyo enhancements (see wiki).
There is no reason to still be running the old 2.1 roms !

Can't see why they wouldn't be, its a superb phone, bargain of the year for me at ?80. Though unhacked and locked to Orange its not as good obviously, so the de-branded Froyo rom and the free unlock is an absolute must.

Release 7 of the Moadaco rom is out and ive upped it to the ftp server.
This is a significant update as the rom moves out of Alpha status, and along with a load of fixes, it also is now based on a retail kernel rather than a leaked beta kernel.

I'm going with shit media here.....and your old disks that work were likely on better media.

Have a try at copying one of your old working disks onto your current blanks and see the new copy works.
Then clean the lens on your drive (properly, not with a disc), and check/adjust ...

A non spinning umd could be a number of things from a dead motor to a dead laser, or a broken latch switch (so it thinks the tray is open). Not the most serviceable item I'm afraid.
