I initially reformatted everthing before trying the recovery console and posting here.

The lad has Infamous installed from the store and he was playing that before he realised he couldn't read discs.

Idiot boy here reset everything and now nothing works...and liked I said ...

Done the recovery mode and it hasn't work, although it said the HDD was corrupt.

Can't logon to PSN as it won't accept his password and the pw change server is down.

Sorry....it works perfectly until you shove a disk in. The disks don't spin.

The disk drive was replaced by sony not long ago

Just u/g my lad's unit to fw 3.70 and all of a sudden it won't read any disks whatsoever -BD games or film DVDs..
