The 'rice' didn't fool the water indicators, once they turn red they stay red..

There probably was no water dammage, the orginal place you took it to just fobbed you of, thats more likely.

Bit of an update folks.

I rang my home insurance today and it turns out I was covered and only had to pay ?50 excess for a replacement. They required proof of ownership, 2 replacement quotes and the damaged handset. I bought the phone from tesco and still had my original receipt which

remove 2 bottom screws slide of back cover and undo the battery screw and remove the battery before it gets worse.


Would love to but i don't have the appropriate screwdriver! i have tried 3 smalll sets, but none of them seem to do the job.

thanks for all of your advice guys - it is currently siting in a plastic box full of rice near the radiator. unfortunately i don't have the screwdrivers required to open the phone up so the phone is in fully intact.

I am currently going through the seven stages of grief - i dropped my iphone 4 in the bog yesterday and now i doesnt turn on. I know its only a phone, but it played quite a handy part in my daily routine so i am quite gutted!

sorted guys - turn airplane mode on, and then turn wifi on too - does the job nicely.

will make sure roaming is off too, just in case

Thanks guys- I'm aware of airplane mode but thought that turns off wifi too. Will try airplane mode and turn on wifi when I get home. Just noticed sbs settings also has a phone option - need to try that out too!

I have a iPhone 4 and use it heavily so I need to charge it everyday. If you turn off notifications you will see your battery life increase dramatically. Only turn them off if you don't need them - I wondered why my whatsapp stopped working then realised it uses notifications to work!

Hi guys - I'm off on holiday next week and want to be able to use wifi abroad, but want to stop any incoming calls and text so I don't get charged- anyone know how I can achieve this? I have a iPhone 4, jb running 4.1.

Downloaded the files, th 4.2 offline updata stuff and printed the guide so I should be fine. Will try just installing HBC tho first and see.

Yep - think i followed your guide pretty well and did the upgrade section. when i check my firmware section it does say 4.2E.

not teaching you to suck eggs - but you saved the options?
I also have that option set and it works fine...

lol - first thing i thought of and when i go back into the file it appears as enabled so yep, it is saved, just doesnt work

Also, i had a play with priloader and set one of the options ti autopress A on the health and safety screen however i still need to manually press it - does that mean my setupof priiloader doesnt work?

I wouldnt bother with an 85mb one mate - get a 200mb off ebay! if you read the manuals etc, normally the speed loss is around 40% of capacity depending on quality of electrical wiring in the house.

Not done it yet, but I will have a crack at just installing the HBC then, the cfg usb loader I am familiar with and see.

sounds like a need to avoid the update! but how do i play the game?

from what i've read i will have to softmod and update firmware to 4.2E, but if i put the original in, will i still have to update on the disk? Is softmodding my only option?
