1 - IMHO there was no reason to remove the existing chip - it could just have been left in place and soft-modded using any of the current guides/methods - if it's now not working then I'd be pointing the finger at the ...

Can't see why the chip should affect things at all - you should just be able to soft-mod it without removing the chip (I know that Wii-Key and Argon chipped systems can be soft-modded without any problems)

Should do - will depend on what type of aerial is in the loft - they did some reshuffling of the frequencies when they moved to digital terrestrial broadcasting so some of the older analogue aerials only work for some of the channel blocks (called muxes) - give it a try and see how many channels ...

If your TV has built in "FreeSAT" then yes it's just as simple as hooking it up to the dish (assuming you have spare sockets on the LNB on the Dish) - if it's for Freeview built in then you'll need to hook it up to a terrestrial TV aerial - no sat dish will work at all for it.

open it up and take a piccy would be about the only sure way - not all the chips were upgradeable by disc. If you're using the softmod and running games from a usb drive then i'd forget all about the hardware mod completely - you'll be able to add any new IOS and things to keep the newer games ...
