Strange "Auto Eject" Problem

Strange one this - and google hasn't been able to ffer any help

Just repaired a 3RL machine (my first "woot!!"). Its also just had a JTAG. The machine works perfectly, in that, all games work from HD work etc, ftp, network, you name it... except:

When turned on, the 1st thing that happens is the drive eject is triggered. The flashing central light in the ROL stays flashing throughout, and its impossible to load a dvd to actually play from the drive as it keeps ejecting. Moreover, 50~% of the time, if I turn the machine off, it will turn itself on again. Its almost as though the eject button is being continuously pressed.

So you know all the info, here's what I've tried.

A new known working drive spoofed with same serial - does exactly same
Changed Sata cable - no effect.
Changed "other" cable. - no effect.
If I remove the SATA cable entirely, the drive STILL ejects.

I can mange with the machine as it it but the auto turn on after power off is a bit of a pain. Anyone got any suggestions ?

is it a Zephyr motherboard ...if so its probably got the aud_clamp and dvd power alt points mod.the side affect of this is tray opens when power up

What console version is it, what wiring did you use for the jtag, dvd tray status?

If it's a xenon then it sounds like the south bridge may be palying up, to cancel out the drive and wiring put a jumper out of a hard drive here, on the motherboard .... ....

Thats superb - yet another example of how great this forum is!!!

Added a jumper - now although th elight still flashes all the time, I can turn the thing off. Dont need the drive anyway, so the solution is more than acceptable.
