is the fact you can reserve one and yet not be told how much one is a little disturbing...

latest info suggests anywhere from ?200 to ?300 quid.

likely release date is March 25th..

If you can have ps3 power in a handheld, wtf is the ps3 so big..??

psp has always been shit, it's a totally lost market..trying to downscale fullsize games.
Chubbs 16.01.2011 16:57
I would like one of these, but based on the use my GBA and then DS Lite got I couldn't justify spending more than forty quid for it!

But these days I do find the time for small game apps, if those where on the machine it might succeed however Ninty wouldn't follow the Apple/Android model of FREE apps would it?

Also I don't see many parents paying 200+ for a handheld games system that can't be shared by a family all at once.
Thrush 16.01.2011 17:00
Well the xbox, wii, and ps3 arn't exactly family units. The majority of games are still single player or multi over the internet.

200 quid isnt out of the family budget, parents give their kids phones and other luxuries for birthdays and xmas that cost far more. I dont think it will be that much though, ?169 at launch I rec. Its interesting that the DS never got a price cut in this country, at least not officially.

Correct me if I'm wrong but have you pretty much just said that the handheld gaming market is 'pretty much lost'? Is that why the ds is the second best selling console of all time with nearly 140 million units sold? sarcastic

Yes, I was referring to the PSP only.

You've got to be joking? The PSP has outsold the 360 by around 15 million, and the ps3 by 20 million. :roflmao: :roflmao:

thats true but thats largly down to the sales in Japan, where the 360 has no market and the PSP is currently selling like hot cakes. You cant really compare home and hand consoles anyway, In terms of the hand held market, the PSP has lost massively to the DS.

While we're on the subject...where is the PSP2 anyway? Nintendo have the new DS poised for release and Sony haven't said a word officially, although there is the playstation android phone info 'leak'

Even so calling the psp a failure when it's sold over 60 million units is a joke. And you say that but the psp has sold just over 16 million units in Japan but almost 22 million units in America. Also with regards to the psp2 there are a shitload of rumours going round. 2 analougue sticks, touchscreen etc Apparently it's going to be announced soon, January 27th supposedly.
{{909}} 16.01.2011 20:39
The PSP isnt a failure, its currently the best selling machine in japan, but that's probably due to the fact that everyone there already has 3 DS's :). It has certainly taken time to fruit though and I have to agree with the other poster, the PSP's ports of home console games wasn't to my personal taste. At this moment in time I don't even know where my PSP is.

Rumours are rumours, they dont mean anything, saying it will have a touch screen or 2 analogue sticks are nothing more than guesses from people who think thats where the PSP fell short. I have since read that Sony have spewed some meaningless tech specs , but they ALWAYS do that and it ALWAYS means absolutely nothing. They probably are right in sticking with the PSP(1) for a good while yet anyway, its selling well now and its showing no signs of slowing just yet, atleast in the far east and its very unlikely they would release it successor anywhere else first.

But you share experiences easily on a TV, nobody else will benefit from the experience but the player.

Kids have shite 30 quid PAYG round here - where do you live? ;)

Don't forget even regular folks have DS flash carts making the DS about a 100 quid investment, 3DS games look to be priced well north of DS games game.co.uk .... Parents, rightly or wrongly, see flash carts as acceptable.

Home consoles don't hit major saturation until they have been out a few years older games are f'all and casual gaming types find that attractive.
