Street Fighter IV pc help

Greyfox 29.12.2010, 00:27
So I've just got Street Fighter IV for pc on the steam sale and now need to get a fight stick to play it as using keyboard and mouse would be suicide playing online. Pretty much all the fight sticks are 360 or ps3 but some are reported to be fine to use on pc. Just wondering if anyone has one they use for pc? Any recommendations on what ones work on pc before I shell out ?50+ only to find it doesn't work.

Cheers great

i?ll make it short:
all ps3/xbox sticks work on pc.

recommendations:
there are too many cheap shitty ones out - invest some more money and you will be pleased.
the original sf4 arcade cabinet uses sanwa buttons and a sanwa JLF stick - so you want to get a stick with those:
mad catz tournament edition (TE) sticks have these components. there are now 4 iterations out, which only have different designs. so you should get a tournament edition round 1 stick for under 100€.

best of the cheap:
"Datel Arcade Pro" ~20€-30€ - ps3, pc AND 360 - stick and buttons are not bad, but no way near the quality of sanwa components.

notable mention in the cheap category:
mad catz standard edition (SE) sticks - shitty stick and buttons, but easy modable with sanwa parts (no soldered wires, all QDs).

DIY:
since i?m cheap and wanted to save some money, i build my own stick with a ps3 controller pcb and imported sanwa components.

Cheers for the info mate. I was a bit worried about taking the plunge as some have reported their fight sticks not working on pc. And yes I've been looking at the madcatz te editions and most likely will get this one

....

What's your opinion on it?

you could buy that one if you want to try the whole "arace stick thing" first, but i would definitely buy better (sanwa) parts for it later on.

Ooops, sorry :P Yeah don't really fancy paying ?120 for the other one. Bit ott just to play one game :/

Exactly what I'm worried is going to happen. On the fight stick I'm looking at it says '
Compatible with most fighting games including PC games that support Xbox 360 gamepad controllers' Pretty sure street fighter IV supports the 360 contrller?

all windows games support the wired pad, but for some reason there doenst seem to be a driver for the wired sticks that i have found anyway

its just a xbox 360 controller pcb inside the stick - they arent different to normal controllers.
lithho 30.12.2010, 22:34
well if thats the case why dont it work in windows like the pads do then?

I bought the street fighter tournement edition stick for ?100 and it works on the pc and the 360 just connect via usb. Yes this already has the swnasa parts so no modding is required.

....

I didn't pay as much as that link advertises though thats quite expensive for what it is. Works great for all games that support 360 pad which is most of them these days on the pc. Also works great in mame. great

Believe me I'm tempted. Not sure I can justify shelling out ?100 on it. That said the sanswa parts are supposed to make a hell of a difference? Did you need to do any button programming to use it on the pc or is it good to go out of the box?

yes :) sanwa/seimitsu parts are a whole new world compared to the clicky buttons and the imprecise sticks of the cheap models.

as i said before - its just a xbox 360 controller arf
