I was a sky customer for years ive moved house receantly and wanted to take my sky with me after near 2 months without tv the enginer comes out and he told me he cant install it due to helath and safety i dont know why every one else has a dish on the row of houses where I live. So i had to cancel with them so i got a thrid party installer to come and fit a dish only cost me ?45 i use that for upstairs and my motorised system for down stairs.cool2 I think the sky installer was hung over or something because he was a right grumpy bastard

Health and safety is a big thing with Sky and if any engineer is found in breach he is suspended until a review is carried out.

Im aware its inconvinient to a customer but H&S with Sky is a big thing and the engineer job is worth more that doing a install which can be carried out by Sky''s special access team (whom carry different gear to what a normal engineer carries) or an independent who does not care about there own h&S.

Yet again, I know some right grumpy Sky engineers I can tell you.

ok, AVC have been out and assessed the damage. Shortly after a uy came out and fitted the cap on the outside and filled the securing hole that was drilled for the dish install.

My problem now is the damage on the inside! We only moved into the property in October last year and had the fit in December. We decorated the front room and the wallpaper was ?25 per roll. The installer has drilled quite a way into the wall and in doing so has obviously damaged the wallpaper.

We have been offered ?25 "goodwill" gesture. Yes that will get us a new roll of wallpaper, but what about the fact i have to strip off the old, refit the new and fill the hole?

Bah!

What are you expecting a new fucking house ? :p

you said in your original post that you prefered the cable in this point but the installer had concerns about it encroaching on the chimney breast, he tried it for you and it didnt workout, you can hardly blame him for that.
fair enough the mess and poor installation needed addressing, and you also got ?25 as a goodwill gesture.
if i was you i would settle for that. and fix the wall paper yourself.
Realist 13.01.2011, 05:49
M8 I've seen many insurance claims and I would accept whats offered.

As the above post states you accepted the responsibility of the original hole being drilled and accepted the engineers comments so as far as Im concerned its your responsibility to make good because you have accepted the fact that if any damage is caused then your happy.

Accept the ?25.00 and next time just be carefull as we all learn by mistakes.

What I don't understand is why any normal person would moan about a bit of mess when a trades man has to do work in your house. For fuck sake get a fucking broom or hover out.

When we have any one do anything in the house I expect to do a bit of a tidy up afterwards.

County is full of lazy moaning cunts, making someones life hard for no reason.

Rant over

(ps anyone got a 1/2 price code? I gave out a Loads of best buy ones in the summer and need one myself now :)

^^

I always tidy up and leave the place as I leave it. Admittedly I am not a tradesman. But if I am doing a job for someone, I tidy up the mess I leave. Lazy is the guy who takes the cash for a job and leaves all the shit behind.

What I am saying is that it will never be 100% clean. If you expect that then u will always be let down.
ivrytwr3 14.01.2011, 02:18
i did clean up the mess - if anything that was just something else amongst onther things the installer failed to do.

However, i disagree with the other comments. I asked if it were possible to put the hole where i suggested - installer said he had concerns - i then asked him to measure up to be certain - to which he replied it would be ok. Which is when he drilled the hole.

We moved into the house in October 2010 and a short time wallapered the area he would later drill. The paper was ?25 per roll.

So i now have a hole in my new wallpaper and a hole in the wall. So, yes, i do think ?25 is a shit offer. What i do want is the hole filled, that part of the wall re-papered and at the companies expense - ie the wall the way it was before he drilled the wrong place AND maybe then ?25 compensation for the shit work he did!
