Just had a sales guy on the phone about this, never heard of it to be honest.

I don't have hd yet but have been thinking of getting it.

Sounds promising. Has anyone got it and how vast is the database of stuff that's available to download on demand? He was saying I could get box sets and all sorts. Is this right? He also said limit is the equivalent of 600 movies per week, exaggerating perhaps?

Not been rolled out to many customers as yet...I think its only certain Amstrad boxes that have it at the moment.

It's also only available to Sky Broadband customers too, so there's me out.

I think at night it downloads all the gear and its stored on your SKY HD box hard drive. Remember that say you buy a 500gb HD box that 250gb is reserved for SKY services such as this

That's just normal anytime isn't it? Anytime plus is choosing whatever you want from a very long list (so they say). Or do you mean normal anytime takes up about 250 gb anyway

Wrong thats normal Anytime.

Anytime plus requires an ethernet connection to download programs on demand via the internet...same as BT vision...you can start watching it once its part downloaded dependant on your speed.

Just remembered they said the engineer has to come to literally plug a wireless receiver into the box by the sounds of it for ?60.

I'll just do it myself or use an Ethernet directly into the router (its right next to the tv) thanks. Will they be arsy about this as he did say its something I have to pay for

Have you got SkyHD?

If you have you dont need anything extra other than an ethernet connection and a Sky Broadband account.

You can set it up yourself and ask them to activate it...when its available on your box of course.

No, I haven't got hd yet. That's why the sales guy rang. I know its a free upgrade if you have it so would definitely tell them to f off asking for 69 then!

All I have is sky plus, I got the call as I have internet, line rental and calls with sky.

I don't even have a hd tv in the lounge currently. Reason it interested me was being able to download on demand so just wondered what the content available was like. Very soon ill be getting a hd tv so would happily get this now then use the hd side of it once I can actually watch in hd!

Well the ?60 will be for the box install.

Say you'll fit it yourself...threaten to cancel your current sub if they push it.

Its only a box swap ffs.cool2

The box swap over will be done by me, they said that as they realised I wasn't a numpty :)

The ?60 was for an engineer coming to, by the sounds of it, plug a wireless receiver into back of the box. Didn't state that was a fucking joke as had to hang up but told him to ring back tomorrow so I could ask you boys your opinion.

I'll just say ill take it but will fit myself thanks

Fuck that use a hard ethernet connection!yes

Exactly or just plug a wireless receiver in myself! Hard cable would better probably to avoid loss of connection
Nibb 10.12.2010, 11:07
Ive just added it online...there was a self-install option on there for a hard ethernet connection.

So tell them that...no charge! ;)
