just downloaded the latest update this morning, phone was noticably faster, afew more settings options like portable wifi hotspots, a few tweeks to text messages aswell, not noticed anything else yet

Wifi hotspot sounds like froyo to me.

spot on, tried the snakes hero it is not on her phone yet, my last android update 2. something, was 2 weeks after everyone had it so just keep trying...

yep android 3.0 is ginger bread
proberly get update in january ,new android phones might come with it this year
but they have to have at least 1gb chip (speed)

Things have changed the next release is now 2.3 not 3.0 but is still Ginger bread

Yup 3.0 is being called Honeycomb now. It's tipped to include support for dual-core handsets like the Nexus S is supposed to be!! Also, still sounds like 3.0 will be out before Jan.
