Digital Center → Mobile Phones & Devices → Handsets & Device Discussion Iphone 4 or HTC desire HDRobbo 29.11.2010, 23:18 I've got the Desire HD and is really good, battery life ain't the best but got loads of apps and games. Also the camera and vid is brilliant GTI 30.11.2010, 01:03 It might not be a fair comparison, but I bought one of those Orange San Francisco Android phones just to wet my beak. And after 1 week of continual usage I couldn't wait to get back to my iPhone, Android just feels clunky and unfinished in comparison to the polished iOS 4. I still have the San Fran, and will keep an eye on future revisions of Android but for now I'm happy to stay Apple. cbrookes 30.11.2010, 01:16 It might not be a fair comparison, but I bought one of those Orange San Francisco Android phones just to wet my beak. Tbh it's not as polished yet but the SF isn't up to the job imo, it's like expecting a iphone2 to be as responsive as the iphone4, both get the job done but 1 is much more enjoyable than the other. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk flik 30.11.2010, 01:37 Is the HTC HD better than the Galaxy S though ? I also am thinking of jumping ship. I just want a bigger screen mainly with all the other extras mentioned ! Also can these top powered Android phones easily without assing about play proper HD content and output that quality to a TV ? It would be great to be able to drag and drop a movie in HD ( Avi, Mkv etc..) on the phone and then take it to a mates and connect to his/hers TV and watch ! dannoble82 30.11.2010, 01:54 you dont need to do anything to use 'free' apps and games, all you need to do is obtain the apps/games in .apk form (very easy to find most things) and then transfer them to the phone, you can even do it with the official windows software. Rooting is the android equivalent of JB but it isn't essential, it will however open up lots of options for customised roms, which are basically the official OS with tweaks, addons etc, or often, leaked versions of newer versions. A lot of us updated our Desire to 2.2 well before the official release date ![]() The android market is still in its infancy but its doing very well since its very open for developers to put stuff on there. This means almost anyone can bang out an app and get it published but as you can imagine, that inevitably results in 5 crap apps to every 1 decent one. Gaming too is well behind the apple store, but theres still plenty of decent games and the quality is improving rapidly. Argh, I was going to put my order for an IP4 tonight, but now you guys have made me think again, my only issue is that its a 24 month contract so i dont know if HTC Desiere HD will be for me as never used one, or any Android operating system. Would i be better off getting an iphone 4 then i can always sell it at a later date, as someone has said on here ip4 holds there price well cbrookes 30.11.2010, 02:08 Argh, I was going to put my order for an IP4 tonight, but now you guys have made me think again, my only issue is that its a 24 month contract so i dont know if HTC Desiere HD will be for me as never used one, or any Android operating system. Robbo 30.11.2010, 06:26 The HTC desire is a proper phone to view the web, Iphone not flash compatable so if you want to use the internet as it should look without apple fucking you over get the HTC beerman 30.11.2010, 07:28 I went from a 3gs to a HTC HD2 (running android from the SD card) and was very suprised how easy it was to switch. I was a bit of an Iphone fanboy before my switch. Now I have a huge screen, a phone that runs at 1.2ghz (overclocked) and a battery I don't have to charge every chance I get. Happy days. My only quibble is the boot time as I have to boot into windows mobile and then wait another 2 mins for android to boot. I had a play on a desire HD yesterday and it's pretty much what I have now but with a better camera and runs Android natively. willp2003 30.11.2010, 08:24 i can upgrade my phone (a shitty basic SE) on 19th Dec and can't decide between these 2 phones. Leaning towards the HTC at the mo, but it seems to change on a daily basis ![]() Geko 30.11.2010, 19:24 There are a lot of Android phones coming out. The Desire HD wouldn't be my choice. I am holding on for a NEXUS S....! I currently have a samsung Galaxy S i9000. I love the screen, better than any other screen out there. My Super AMO-LED Screen kicks the iphones LCD arse, no matter the resolution....! I love the operating system, Android kicks the iphones arse there too!! But... Being Samsung and Korean the build quality is a little shit, and the bloat they added to the Android OS, was a bit shit too. However I rooted and changed the firmware. I am now running a lag free, native Android OS. I have overclocked the CPU and freed up more RAM. It makes a jailbreak look rather weak. I still have a plasticy phone... But on a performance level it's amazing. I added a skin cover and it hides the build quality and shows off the amazing screen. I also was an Apple fanboy. But only because I'd never played with Android. It truely is far superior. And I got a free phone on a ?24 a month contract. I don't think Apple are capable of releasing the hardware or software to tempt me back. Similar Threads |
