From news.cnet.com ....

Microsoft expects to sell 5 million Kinect units by the end of 2010, the company confirmed to CNET today.

"The demand for Kinect for Xbox 360 is exceeding expectations," a Microsoft spokesperson wrote in an e-mail. "So we're increasing our forecast from 3 million sensors sold this holiday to 5 million. That's bigger than any launch in Xbox history."

Played it tonight and the control of the dashboard alone with the new update is worth it. The voice recognition is fantastic.I only played a few of the games on the disc that comes with it ( Kinect Adventures ), these were basic but a lot of fun. Also there is no faffing about calibrating shit like on the Move, you just jump in and away you go. The camera actually tracks you, so once you position it you don't need to touch it again. This will sell more than anything this Xmas in my opinion, just because it is so easy to use.

I'm sure it'll sell loads initially only for people to realise it's a bit of a gimick without any decent games to support it. For the most part, 360 owners are a bit older than the current Kinect games seem to be aimed at.

5 million, they're hoping! If they sell that many they should expect most to be returned for a refund as most people will be disappointed from what I've seen myself so far.
