BBC One HD to go live tonight

It was just the Queen Vic pub that was really run down and when they tested HD it looked really bad, the fire scene that happened a short while back was to give the excuse to rebuild it for HD at xmas.

I saw an interview with the guy and substantial things have had to be rebuilt. A lot of outdoor brickwork in yards etc. was looking very shabby, and where the walls join together on the internal sets.

I also watched points of view while hangover on sunday afternoon!

Ermmm, 720p is actually 1280 x 720, so 1280 x 1024 exceeds that!

i think my first 17" ( eizo ) monitor came along in 97 and i pay'd a fair penny for it back then

I was looking into why MOTD isn't available on iplayer (a couple of months ago) & they only have the rights to show the highlights twice. I hope there's no sort of restriction on the definition - I will look forward to seeing my recording on Sunday morning

I actually had a 15" monitor. Usually used on 1024*768 but it did support 1280*1024 if needed. Not my computer obviously, the family computer. I think dad probably had a 17" on his machine at the same time, probably bought in 1995 actually.

I think you've missed my point a bit anyway, I was just describing how old the technology is and not trying to boast about my superior equipment. Today both my monitors were under ?90, I'm not one for flashy gadgets.

i remember the japs harping on about HD in the mid 80's i know it's not new technology
at the time we in the uk was being introduced to nicam

i didn't miss the point at all but when good 17" monitors was costing in the region of 700 quit to a grand in the mid 90's ( 1995 ) not that many people had them most had 14" monitors
i worked in a computer shop at the time and not that many bought monitors above 15"

i got dreambox but channel is def showing i just tested, content is non hd but its def HD, i got dreambox channel list if you want.

Formula one qualifying is apparently in upscaled Hd today, looks better but nowhere near true Hd
