When is Virgin putting on more High Definition channels especially Itv I am new to cable and it seems to me there is no get up and go within the company to keep viewers for the long term.

HD is still relatively new in the broadcast industry in the UK. There will be more channels added soon I'm sure but all broadcasters are keeping tight lipped about it all.

ITVHD is pretty rubbish so don't get your hopes up too much. They only show a few programs a week in HD and have a lot of issues. Sound synch, forgetting to turn on the HD broadcast, cutting off halfway through a show and much more. ITVHD seems to be more of a trial than a real offering.

I phoned virgin and asked them why they didn't broadcast sky sports and movies in HD, he told me it was cause sky wanted too much money. So it looks like they won't be broadcasting them any time soon..:: You must click 'Thank You' before you can see the data contained here. ::.

I was given the same routine by them, about some Hd channels coming soon.
But I remember "soon" was what they said about sky1!

So i went off to sky. The picture quality on the non hd stuff seems better than the same channel on VM. I assume maybe VM are using more compression

In the recent sale of living, bravo, challenge channels to sky I'm sure I read somewhere that part of the negotiation process involved sky allowing vm to broadcast some of sky's premium hd content, and also allowing vm customers to have some of sky's red button features,

Yes the sky sales said that to me as well, but she said that sky will not be giving all the SKY hd stuff to VM!

Always a catch I assume, Ive signed up for a year with 2 boxes. So will see what bargains are available in a year
