HD cannot make our shower of overrated shite look better mate...

Fucking hell, nothing in the world can make Walcott look like a footballer! Wenger only signed him to lure other little boys into the camp...
Clearly it was getting out of hand at Arsenal so Wenger had to employ the old 'Daddy' Sol Campbell ;)

Took delivery of my Philips/Pace HD PVR today. BBC HD looks great, ITV less so.

The EPG is missinga few basic features, and it's not that easy to navigate, but I'm hoping for an update that will a fix a few of the issues, and lack of features.

So far so good though yes

the prices will come down eventually. it's a new technology, what do you expect?

I settled for the Humax Fox F2 in the end, ?139 from Richersounds, just to have something for the recent football and world cup.

It's ok, SD upscalling isn't great, but HD looks very good. There might be usb recording functions with a software update, as well as sky player and iplayer.

Not a great buy, but I couldn't hold out for the HD STBs with hard drives.

I bought this box too after HD date was put forward in my area, you noticed the sound bug when every time you change channel it changes L/R to L/L. Kinda annoying, I hope they fix it asap. Press the sound? button to check, down and to left of the i button.

There's a firmware update for the humax fox T2 that fixes the sound problems and gives you USB recording. Only a beta version but seems great so far....

....

Makes this a great buy now.

Yowser they are not cheap are they? I used to have the Humax HDR (FreesatHD) and it was very nice. Shame there wasn't that much HD programming on it :(

Bit the bullet in the end and went with SkyHD and the missus pays for the movie channels. The quality is pretty damned good - better than the FreesatHD box - although I think the quality with FreeviewHD is comparable to SkyHD if I remember correctly.

I reckon (as stated above) that these prices will tumble pretty quickly. They want fast sales at top prices on the run up to Chrimbo.

well i paid ?300 for the Philips and it can be found for ?220 ish now (6 months on)

It's regarded that the Humax PVR and the Digital Stream are the only 2 boxes not to be full of bugs, and seem to get reasonably quick firmware updates. However, my Philips is ok since the firmware update, but still not without issues.

I bought a Digital Stream a week ago. The picture is good and its reliable up to now.
The SD picture is perhaps slightly worse than the Panny its connected to but it varies with the source as on some channels the picture quality is as good.
I am running the latest software and am pleased.
