I could never seem to get the modem working when I forced a config file, it just wouldnt get the IP and would stay with an internal IP.

Have just ordered myself a 255 to get this up and running

currently got an old sb4100 grabbing 20mb but really want the 50mb

Now just got to do some learing in getting the new one up and running

Just tried this and not working for me (Manchester).

In the modem config I get:
Boot State: In Progress | Refused by CMTS

Tried forcing on working 2mb, 10mb and 20mb MACS.

Not sure if it's been rolled out here...?

Have a check on the vm website mate.. select the option of 50 meg and it'll ask your post code.. punch that in and it'll tell you if it's available in your area.

can confirm this does work

virgin media area checker says that 50m not available in my area but on speed test i'm getting 36m up and 1.6m down
(haxorware 5101e and a 20mb mac with forced 50m config)

Was just gonna ask i'm using a mac which i forced into a 20mb could i use the same mac and force it as a 50mb or will i have to do a scan again round my mates house and find a 50mb one

You should be able to force that to 50mb mate.....but dont work here for me I get the error reported in a previous post CMTS failed or somethin
