is there a chance he has fucked it running off a 12v?
and will it be allright 1.5amps if they said 1.2
If you know what size pin, you can get it cheaper of the bay. Just bought one last week (?^) for my HDD but I had a model number.
Sounds like it could run off 12V but it's best on 24V if that's what the manufacturer recommends. It won't have done it any damage, I'm just surprised that it worked at all!
It'll be fine mate.
1.5 is the max that unit supplies, afaik it should only draw what it requires.
I thought that was very cheap for a 36w psu, my latop supply was about 4 times that

I got a 12v maplins one to run a cctv camera and it was crap, picture seemed to have a lot of distortion. Found an old tft monitor supply and it worked fine off that. Maplins are not the best quality and to be honest I'd be surprised if you have not got a 12v supply lying around the house somewhere. That said a 1.2A or above might be a bit harder to find, or try a cctv outlet on the net.
